I’ll Walk With You

Before I published my book, I went in search of comps, other books like mine. I would be able to say, “if you enjoyed so-and-so’s book, you will enjoy mine.”

Even though I was diagnosed with cancer twice, I never read a book about someone else’s cancer journey. I never considered it. I just kept moving.

Each book I read, while looking for comps, was one I felt would have helped me if I had read it during my journey.

They didn’t help me because they gave me advice or tricks to walk the path.

They helped me because I recognized myself in their thoughts and fears. These other people thought the same thoughts even though I never said them out loud. They were afraid of the same things even though we’d never met and shared our stories.

Reading other people’s stories made me feel seen. They made me feel normal.

Cancer is hard.

Life is hard.

We need to hear that we are not the only one who thinks this way.

We need a community of people telling us, “yes, that really sucks,” every time we are trying to push through.

We need to know we aren’t alone.

If you have any hard things in your life, More Than Her Share is a book you can pick up and hear me telling you, “I see you.”
